Singapore’s unit of currency is the Singapore Dollar (SGD), locally referred to as the ‘Singdollar’. It is made up of 100 cents using coins of 5, 10, 20, and 50 cents, along with notes in the denomination of SGD 2, 5, 10, and 50, 100, 500, and 1000.

Singapore Changi Airport, commonly known as Changi Airport (IATA: SIN, ICAO: WSSS), is a major civilian airport that serves Singapore and is one of the largest transportation hubs in Asia. Singapore Changi Airport is an award-winning international airport offering the best amenities, retail, and dining options for travelers. The airport is located in Changi, at the eastern end of Singapore, approximately 20 km (12 mi) from Marina Bay (Singapore’s Downtown Core), on a 13-square-kilometer (5.0 sq mi) site. Singapore Changi Airport has located 24km from the center of the city. The journey should take around 23 minutes by taxi.

Malay and English are widely used in Singapore due to its bilingual policy. So, if you know English, communicating with locals in Singapore won’t be a problem!

- Best time to Visit

Although Singapore is a year-round destination, the best time to visit Singapore is from December to June. The months of February to April fall within Singapore’s dry season and are typically when the country has the least amount of rain, the lowest humidity, and the most sunshine.

1. Helix Bridge

Connecting Marina Central to Marina South lays the gorgeous Helix Bridge. Popularly known as “The Helix”, it is a pedestrian bridge linking the city’s existing CBD area with the newly developed Bayfront district. The stunning edifice shines dazzlingly at night by ribbons of LED lighting, turning it into a popular tourist attraction.

2. Singapore Flyer

Standing at a magnificent height of 165 meters, the Singapore Flyer is Asia’s largest giant observation wheel. Offering a 360-degree breathtaking panoramic view of the Lion City, the huge Ferris wheel is built on a 3-story terminal building at Marina Bay.

An icon of Singapore, the stunning view from the flyer is best experienced at dusk – view the iconic attractions like Singapore River, Raffles Place, Merlion Park lit up spectacularly at night. The major attraction of the Singapore Flyer are the 28 city-bus-sized air-conditioned capsules, designed to carry 28 passengers through a 30-minute mind-stirring journey of Singapore’s skyline.

3. Merlion Park

The picturesque Merlion Park, located near One Fullerton in the CBD (Central Business District) area, is an iconic Singapore sight, housing two Merlion statues. Merlion is a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish and is considered an icon of the Lion City.

Spouting water from the mouth, the larger of the two statues measure 8.6 metres, which was later joined by a Merlion cub, measuring 2 metres and located near the main Merlion. While visiting the concrete structure isn’t in itself worth the time, the Marina Bay views make the trip worthwhile.

The Merlion Park is one of the few spots from where visitors can witness the popular light and water show at Marina Bay Sands. The show depicts sheer magnificence and watching it delights the senses.

4. Sentosa island

A tiny resort island off the southern coast of Singapore, Sentosa Island is home to themed attractions, sun-washed beaches, lush rainforests, amazing spas, and some popular resort hotels.

Packed with attractions, Sentosa Island is speckled with panoramic gardens including a butterfly garden, amusement parks, a breathtaking aquarium (Underwater World), beach clubs with live music, an ethnic village, and the highlight of the island, a vast Merlion Statue.

- Adventure Cove Waterpark

Located at the Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore, the Adventure Cove Waterpark is known for its thrilling rides and fascinating encounters with the marine life.

- iFly Singapore

iFly Singapore is an indoor skydiving simulation venue near Siloso Beach Station. A franchise of the popular SkyVenture, iFly offers authentic free-falling simulations within an indoor wind tunnel, featuring a thrilling 90-second drop.

- SEA Aquarium

SEA Aquarium is one of the largest aquariums in the world, home to more than 800 species of aquatic wildlife. The chief draw of SEA Aquarium is the Open Ocean Tank – world’s largest viewing panel at 36-m long and 8.3m high. This is also the only aquarium in the world to house the giant oceanic manta ray.

- The Singapore Cable Car

The Singapore Cable Car is a gondola lift that facilitates an aerial link from Mount Faber to Sentosa’s resort island. It affords a bird’s eye view of the main attractions of Singapore like Mount Faber, Harbourfront, Merlion, Sentosa Island, and the Universal Studios Singapore.

5. Singapore Botanic Gardens

Singapore Botanic Gardens is the only tropical garden to feature as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 82-hectare garden houses more than 10,000 species of flowering plants and trees. The prime attractions are the National Orchid Garden, and Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden.

Singapore Botanic Gardens also features the Learning Forest interactive rainforest exhibit, many museums, herbariums, attractive statues, gurgling fountains, a Botany Centre, and many more family-friendly locations. A stunning lake attracts tropical birds and turtles, while butterflies and other insects frequent the sweet-smelling blooms. The Singapore Botanic Gardens is also the venue of performances, recitals, and educational programs at Palm Valley.

6. Universal Studios Singapore

Universal Studios Singapore is a theme park located in Resorts World Sentosa. With 28 thrilling rides, exciting attractions, spectacular shows, and divided into seven fun zones, it is a must-visit place in Singapore.

From thrilling roller coasters that zoom through reality-bending animations, live-action shows with popular animated characters, and dance parties every evening to kid-friendly carousels, lip-smacking delicacies, and mesmerising zone setups, Universal Studios Singapore promises to be an exciting getaway for the entire family.

7. Singapore Night Safari

World’s first nocturnal zoo, Singapore Night Safari houses more than 130 species of animals. It uses the open-concept enclosures or trams to take the visitors on a 45-minute commented tour of its nocturnal animals and habitats.

The animals of the night safari, ranging from gaur, chital deer, Asian elephants, rhinoceros, are made visible by lighting.

8.  Singapore Zoo

Regarded as one of the best zoos in the world, the Singapore Zoo is spread across a vast area of 70 acres in the Upper Seletar Region. Accommodating around 315 species, 16 percent of which are considered endangered, the Singapore Zoo is divided into 11 zones.

9.  Marina bay sands

Singapore’s most iconic hotel, Marina Bay Sands is a resort complex, ranked as the world’s most expensive standalone casino property. The 55-storey tower is home to the world’s largest infinity pool and atrium casino. Other prime attractions include the Shoppes Mall, Art Science Museum and Sands Sky Park.

10. Art Science museum

The Art Science museum at Marina Bay is a premier exhibition space featuring touring exhibitions from art and science. One of the quirkiest buildings and things to see in Singapore.

It also houses a permanent exhibit FUTURE WORLD: Where Art Meets Science, a dynamic 1500-square-meter digital world of interactive art installations based on the theme of nature, science, park and town.

11. Gardens by the Bay

A must-visit place in Singapore, Gardens by the Bay is a 101-hectare nature park and botanic gardens. Home to almost 4,00,000 plants, it is famous for the awe-inspiring Supertree Groves, SkyWay, Flower Dome, and the hypnotic Garden Rhapsody, the light and sound show.

1. Orchard road

One of the main shopping streets of Singapore, Orchard Road is 2.2 kilometers long upscale shopping destination. Famous for the luxury retail shopping experience, it is home to internationally renowned stores, coffeehouses, and restaurants.

2. Clarke Quay

The Clarke Quay is a popular riverside quay in Singapore flanked by stylish restaurants and high-end boutiques. Also lined up along the river are buzzing nightclubs, river cruise bumboats, and floating cafes that make the place Singapore’s major wining and dining area.

3. Geylang Serai

Geylang Serai is one of the biggest and busiest wet markets in Singapore. Situated in the heart of the Malay community, the market is known for selling everything related to Malay food and its preparation at some of the cheapest prices in Singapore. Geylang Serai New Market also specializes in Malay and Indian Cuisine

4. Vivo City

VivoCity, the largest shopping mall in Singapore, is located at HarbourFront (close to the HarbourFront MRT station). It is one of those very few shopping complexes that is famed for its open space.

- East Coast Park

East Coast Park is a 15km long stretch of seafront park, nestled along the southeastern coast of Singapore. Spread across 185 hectares of reclaimed land, it is a much-loved spot among the locals who flock here to windsurf, swim, kayak, picnic, swim, barbecue, bicycle, skateboard.

- Siloso Beach
